Original acrylic painting depicting a dragon based loosely on Chen Rong’s “Nine Dragons” (1244 CE), and attempting to capture the essence of dragons as a concept in Chinese mythology. Within that perception, dragons inhabited the skies and created weather, also were the wind, rain, clouds, and storms. The dragons and their elemental dominions were inspeperable. While these dragons are uniquely Chinese, mythologies explaining the sky can be found in every corner of the world.

These mythologies came in to being at a time when we were far separated from these elements, and this work questions how our relationship to these concepts changes, as technology continuously allows us to achieve new heights (literally).
