Daydream 3

Daydream 3
“Daydream 3”. 2021. Graphite on paper, framed with museum glass, 6 x 6 in. (11 x 11 in. with frame)
Original drawing from my “Daydreams” series, and previously exhibited at the LeQuire Gallery in 2023.
Artist Statement:
Sometimes we have something massive on the horizon that should, on paper, only elicit excitement, but which gathers apprehension around itself like a cloak of nervous energy as the day approaches. Anxiety loves to manifest around the things that we care about the most, because, at its core, it’s produced by our dumbass brains as a way to protect us. We consider the worst possible outcomes because we want things to go so perfect, so bad, that our brain feels the need to prepare us for disaster. We see the bright highlights of what could be in our future, and we also see the deep shadows those cast.
This drawing is meant to be that.
